Archive for March 2021Coolant/Antifreeze Service in Venice, FLPosted March 28, 2021 11:24 AMVenice auto owners may know that most automotive failures in Venice, FL, are tire related, but do you know the second most common cause of vehicle failure? Nope, it's not teenagers. It is the coolant system. But if you take good care of your vehicle coolant system, it will take good care of you. Car Doc On The Island Why Alignment Matters (Vehicle Alignment Maintenance)Posted March 21, 2021 10:43 AMIt's one of those things that can happen on a multi-day road adventure or a quick trip to the grocery store. You hit a pothole, go too fast over a speed bump, nail a curb. When it happens, you think, "I wonder if that was hard enough to do any damage?" But things seem ok and you continue on your way. Keep in mind that any blow to your vehicle's suspension can throw it out of alignment. It can be a hard knock from the road or from another vehicle, such as being involved in a minor accident. When your suspension is out of alignment, it means that the wheels aren't all pointing where they should. And after a while, it can make your tires wear unevenly and cause problems with steering and handling. Let's go back to that pothole or curb you hit hard. Even though you think there was no damage done, if you wait until you see tire wear, you may need to replace all four tires, not an inexpensive proposition. That's why it's a good idea to make sure your alignment is regularly checked by a qualified technician. If you get regular oil changes (a MUST!), consider having an alignment check while your vehicle is in. That's especially important if you drive roads that resemble the lunar surface. If you buy new tires, it's also strongly recommended that you have your alignment checked. You can have your front wheels aligned or all four, and if your vehicle is newer, it's not a bad idea to spend a little extra for the four-wheel alignment check. Good alignment pays off with better steering and handling, less tire wear and—BONUS—better fuel economy since aligned wheels offer less resistance when they roll on the road. Car Doc On The Island Below 45 Degrees in Venice: Consider Winter TiresPosted March 14, 2021 9:31 AMRemember snow tires? They were basically just regular tires with big, knobby lugs to get them through deep snow. They were loud and rode hard, and Venice drivers couldn't wait to get them off the car. Then along came television advertisements for “all-season” radials. FL drivers ran out and bought some and we thought we were done with snow tires forever. For more auto advice about tires for any FL season, ask your friendly and knowledgeable Car Doc On The Island tire professional. They can help you find the right tire for your area and for your driving needs. For the best performance from your tires, whatever the season, don't forget preventive maintenance. Keep your tires up to pressure for the best durability, safety and performance, but don't overinflate them. Remember, good car care provides the safest road for all of us in Venice.
Stay Headed in the Right Direction, VenicePosted March 7, 2021 11:08 AMPower steering is standard on nearly every vehicle in Venice, FL, these days. Now there are some exotic, new types of power steering systems, but for the most part, the general setup is a pump that's driven by a belt powered by the engine. Contact the automotive professionals at Car Doc On The Island in Venice for questions about your power steering. The pump generates power that assists drivers as they steer their vehicle around Venice, FL. Power steering systems use hoses to move pressurized fluid back and forth. These hoses can develop leaks so it's a good idea to have Car Doc On The Island inspect them at every oil change. In addition to providing a boost, the fluid cleans, cools and lubricates the power steering system. Over time, the lubricants and detergents diminish so Venice drivers need to replace their old fluid with clean, fresh fluid periodically. At Car Doc On The Island, we use a detergent to clean the system, flush out the old fluid and replace it with new fluid. Car Doc On The Island | ||

What our clients are saying about us
We have established longterm and stable partnerships with various clients thanks to our excellence in solving their automotive needs!
I stopped in because my coolant light had been on for a few days. Stacy had someone come out to top it off and she gave my car a quick glance and noticed one of my tires was worn funky. We scheduled them to take a look and it turned out belts in my tire broke. I needed two new tires but it could have ended up way worse if she didn't look. Grateful because I probably wouldn't have until something terrible or WAY more expensive happened.
Great customer service!
